Algerian customs for travellers
If a U-take request means goods enter or leave Algeria with a traveller, Algerian customs rules apply to that traveller. U-take does not clear customs or calculate duties.

Personal effects vs commercial character
Algerian customs separates goods for personal or family use from goods that look commercial, based on nature, quantity, or value. U-take only allows person-to-person, non-commercial requests. Goods that look commercial can be refused, taxed under normal procedures, or seized. They also break our Terms.
Franchises and simplified taxation
Algerian customs publishes duty-free franchises and, in some cases, a simplified flat-rate tax for new personal effects within published value limits and conditions. Those amounts and conditions change. Do not trust old numbers or random blogs. Before you travel, read the current traveller pages on douane.gov.dz.
Currency and valuables
Travellers may need to declare foreign currency and certain valuables when entering or leaving Algeria, above thresholds set by exchange and customs rules. Keep the declaration you get on entry. It can be checked on exit. Ask the sender for accurate values of what you carry so you can answer customs honestly.
Checklist before you accept
Before you accept a request to or from Algeria: • Make sure the goods are legal, non-commercial, and allowed by the airline. • Get a clear description and value from the sender in chat. • Read the current traveller pages on douane.gov.dz. • Plan for possible duties. Under our Terms, the sender should repay evidenced customs costs. • If it feels commercial or unclear, refuse the request.
